Specialized Dog Walking
Our Pet Care Specialists are trained to help dogs with issues such as:
-
Fearful dogs who need extra reassurance and visits to begin to trust new people. They know how to go slow and take the time that your fearful dog needs.
-
Large, powerful dogs who need to have a Walker who is strong and understands defensive leash handling.
-
Leash reactive dogs who have outsized reactions to other animals, people or items in the environment and need a Walker who understands how to get your dog to disengage from a stressful stimulus or prevent the dog from going over threshold and react.
-
Dogs that can be aggressive to stranger pets or people and need an advocate to make sure that there are no unplanned interactions or incidents.
-
Dogs that have physical concerns that require special care and consideration on a walk.
-
So much more....
Pet Care Specialists working with pets that have behavioral issues are provided with training as Fear Free Certified Pet Care Providers.
Since these walks require more skill and familiarity with your dog, please allow for extra time prior to starting regular walks or going on a trip to allow your dog to get used to the walker in all stages, including coming in to the house and harnessing your dog. At the initial consultation we will develop a plan and once we establish a good routine for both the Pet Care Specialist and the Dog, we will create a document that contains all of the agreed upon steps.

Also, please be mindful of the Bite Exclusion on the company insurance which specifies that if your dog has a bite history, company insurance will not cover any bite incidents either on walks or in the worst case, to the walker. You will need to be prepared to cover any out of pocket medical expenses or activate your insurance in these cases.
At the initial consultation we will go over equipment and management. Whether we need to have a buffer zone to avoid door dashing and over excitement or use a crate for when you are gone and the Pet Care Specialist enters the home.
We do not use the following:
-
Shock collars/vibration collars
-
Choke collars
-
Prong collars
-
Leash systems that compress the ribcage or hips.
